A quick reprise of C19 in Asia – the recent surge looks over – fingers crossed China is close to achieving zero covid!
Using data from the usual sources, here and here, we can construct this table for active cases of C19 for countries close to or bordering China and compare these to India, Japan, the US and globally.
The comparison between Japan and India is simply stunning. The reason? India denied access to Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech mRNA injections whilst Japan could not get enough of the stuff.
Japan (and all other so-called “first world” countries) allowed themselves to be bullied into “no liability” contracts with a company with an appalling track record for bribery, corruption and malpractice (Pfizer) and two start-up companies with no proven, successful track record of ever deploying mRNA technology on a large scale anywhere in the world. (Argentina even had to pledge its military bases as collateral).
Even so, India did allow Astra Zeneca (AZN) to peddle its wares. There is no credible adverse event reporting system in India, thought it is likely that it sustained millions of deaths – maybe as many as 10 million – from the vaccines deployed.
India has preferred murder charges against two notables. The Chief Science Officer of the WHO and Bill Gates (et al).
Swaminathan has been replaced by Dr Jeremy Farrar, who is currently Director of the Wellcome Trust, and will join the WHO in the second quarter of 2023.

Note: The “Vaxx Rate” of those actually vaxxed needs to be scaled upwards for the unvaxxed – so, for example, a little over 30% of the world’s population is unvaxxed, meaning that the vaxx rate for those actually vaxxed is 70% higher at 236% vaxxed. For the US, since 19% are unvaxxed, the equivalent number of vaxxed with at least one dose is 247% (668.8 million doses for 271.2 million Americans with at least one dose).
Here is a snapshot of daily case rates in the selected Asian tiger economies, compared to the Japan, the US and India.
Daily cases are trending to zero, though Taiwan’s remains stubbornly elevated.
This bodes well for China. We must wait for the end of the few weeks of the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit on Sunday 5 February 2023 and a return to data collection to confirm “zero covid” in China from the BF7 variant (a.k.a. BA.5.2.1.7).
Treat the headline death numbers from China with care as they are published. A 0.1% fatality rate is usual for ‘flu season. 0.1% of 1.4 billion people is 1.4 million “normal” seasonal ‘flu deaths. Double that number would indicate a serious milestone.
Hopefully BF7 will have burnt out after its 10 day average infection period over the last 3 months (and its R0 of around 15!) and fingers crossed BF7 is not (and has not been) replaced with the XBB.1.5 and BQ.1.1 that dominate circulating US variants.

Fascinating to see the graphs like that especially how well India has done. They also used more IVM in certain provinces like Uttar Pradesh. I didn’t know that they rejected the mRNA frauds. Good for them!!
