Twice last week, each time from a different source within the school, I was told that because we are a medical university we have an obligation to “follow the science” as it were.
Arriving early to set up, I find the lab in the basement where the firs semester classes were held set up for some practical activity and not usable as a classroom.
Two or three of the classes are in the basement due to covid measures compelling us to maintain social distancing in the classrooms. This requires that two small classrooms that would normally be used by to classes must be combined by cranking the partition between each pair of rooms open so that the proper distance can be maintained. This requires each teacher to go to the office and sign out the crank. I anticipate being confronted over my lack of a face mask.
Stopped by the coffee house near the school for the first time in a couple of months this morning. The have reinstalled the plastic barrier between the cashier and customers.
Run! I couldn't do it. I'm just over it. I will not participate in this fantasy land. I applaud you for your perseverance, and yet it makes me wonder what compells you to submit to operating in this environment? Push back everywhere! If one person does, another may be emboldened to do so. We are not sheep. This idolatry of empowering hanging plastic, face diapering, and 6 ft distancing is literally insanity. Sorry.
What, that's ridiculous. What part of following the science is that. I missed that in school.
And then I missed it again in practice. However, I did retire in 2017.
