For those interested in the UK equivalent of AOC’s “goon squad” – a list of the UK’s Labour Party policies so far that it will try (and fail) to implement after late 2024's general election

“NHS workforce
Labour will pump £1.1bn into the NHS to pay doctors and nurses more to work overtime in an attempt to bring down waiting lists.”
After all, quality has never been an issue for Labour, and you can simply erase wating lists by rubbing them out with a banknote.

UK Healthcare Spending - Analysis, Charts 2015_2025Charts Tables (ukpublicspending.co.uk)
UK population in 2000 = 59million, population now 68 million – up 15%, health spending up from 50 billion pounds to 220 billion – up 340% - courtesy of big pharma and hopelessly inefficient bureaucracy and logistics. Waiting lists are at record highs.
NHS waiting lists hit record high in England - BBC News
“A record 7.47 million people are waiting to start routine hospital treatment, NHS figures for the end of May show - up from 7.42 million the previous month. This is the highest number since records began for the NHS in England, in 2007. Some 385,000 people have been waiting more than a year to start treatment.”
Are Labour politicians more qualified, experienced, with better track records at managing health than the already proven corrupt and incompetent ruling Conservatives? I would say they have even less credibility if that is even possible!
“Energy grid
The party has announced plans to “build a clean energy grid” to speed up the development of clean power.”
Yeah, right. Straight from the “I am a Cult member” play book of science denial with no track record of ever doing anything that works or is useful. Thin Solyndra on steroids.
“It would use its proposed publicly-owned energy company – GB Energy – to help secure the supply chains the grid needs to expand, opening the door to future competition to build the grid at the same time.”
Create a state monopoly, watch its costs blow out and jack up prices whilst reducing quality. Standard play book of the incompetent and corrupt. Ask London mayor, Sadiq Khan.
“Conversion therapy ban
Labour would introduce a ban on gay conversion therapy that would include protections for transgender people, the party announced.
Shadow women and equalities minister Anneliese Dodds said the party would bring forward a “no loopholes” ban on the practice – which is when people attempt to supress someone’s sexuality or gender identity.”
What the eff does that even mean? “Gay conversion therapy” – A ban with no loopholes? So no “suppression of gender identity is allowed”? The logic sounds queer to me.
“Workers’ rights
Deputy Leader Angela Rayner reiterated the party’s promise to toughen up workers’ rights within the first 100 days of taking office.
The deputy party leader told Labour’s conference in Liverpool that plans to boost protections for gig workers and enshrine basic employment rights from the first day of starting a job had not been watered down.”
Ok, so abusive employment practices are bad. I guess that people will have to look elsewhere for work if they are being abused. Funny that, I thought they would be doing this already. Perhaps that is the only form of work available to illegal immigrants? Who knows!
“Housing
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer promised Labour would build 1.5 million homes within five years of taking office.”
Really, this must mean that land will be seized or rezoned from swamp or flood risk to “not a problem” and the UK’s existing builders will have to compete with builders od council houses in an environment of the 1960’s .that created todays slums – UK’s builders can build 150,000 to 20000 houses a year – properly surveyed and erected. Where will all the builders come from to erect the highly polluting homes?

Of course, the need for housing might be alleviated by a mass C19 mRNA injection led die off, or the expulsion of the odd 2 million illegal immigrants!
No doubt there will be more output from the Labour “kindergarten of stupid” and Cult ,member wannabes in the coming days.
Amazing that the Tories have not been able to do better. Well ,pathetic really. The Tories had the opportunity to simplify the tax system, reduce taxes, introduce well thought out logistics in all areas of public spending. But instead, it chose sloth, inadequacy and incompetence.
Imagine if the UK was to abolish all transaction taxes to make the poor better off. No VAT, no customs and excise duties, no fuel taxes, road taxes, national insurance etc and replace it all with a flat tax of 25% AND THEN cut public spending to what was affordable – simply by automating the bureaucracy! Pigs might fly, rather than feeding at tax payers troughs I guess!
Onwards!

I'm intrigued to hear how building 1.5 million houses fits in with net zero.
Thanks for this. I am currently reading this big fat English history book because I'm wondering when the poms went from being superbly organised warriors to pathetic masochists. I'm currently up to 1066 and I will let you know if I can figure it out.
