My first reaction was similar to watching a KFC ad featuring a woman licking gravy off her fingers at the height of the C19 scare.

Then I thought, maybe, the author doth protest too much, since surely eggs have been fertilized by sperm in lesbian or infertile couples for decades.

Then I had swerved into an unrelated blind alley and wondered whether gay men should also be allowed into female bathrooms in the same way that pre-op trans women were – or whether pre-op trans women should be banned from female bathrooms.. clown world has many dimensions!

Anyway back to the article:

“The products of the two male mice were then placed for gestation in surrogate female mice. Of the 630 embryos manufactured with manipulated stem cell eggs and obtained sperm, more than half a dozen baby mice were born and appeared to mature without any defects.”

Makes you wonder why scientists don’t concentrate on fixing problems rather than creating them.

Still, gay men growing babies in whatever the equivalent of mice tails is a long way in the future.

“Hayashi admits that elevating the technology beyond rodents will take time and face ethical hurdles. “It (will be) difficult to produce babies from male-male (human) couples because of both technical and ethical reasons,” Hayashi told eager members of the press. “But it is theoretically possible to produce babies from male-male couples, as shown in this study.”

“I myself am gay and something I’m very personally interested in in terms of how it could allow people like me to be able to have biological children with their partners,” Matt Krisiloff, founder of fertility research company Conception, explained in a video interview with The Economist.”

Clown world. Maybe the next step will be to grown designer pets in the womb or livestock.
