ICYMI – UK withdraws a billion bucks worth of EV buses because they can spontaneously combust, especially if “left unattended” - batteries supplied by BYD of China

Following several recent incidents this year in London, UK, like those reported here:

The Driver Vehicle Standards Agency issued an emergency recall of 1,758 buses worth 800 million pounds (a billion bucks).

There will, of course, be no charges levied against bus companies or transport authorities for reckless endangerment of their passengers, that would imply they have some sort of responsibility for their membership of a Cult that believes that replacing cheap, safe and reliable ICE powered buses with unsafe, expensive and unreliable EV buses, is somehow stupid and dangerous.

“In a statement, they (Fire Service) said: "We are currently in attendance at this large fire. "This is likely to be burning for a long time.! Apparently dousing in water didn’t work, but whatever this stuff is did the trick.

1,758 buses worth a billion bucks now “grounded” – if you will forgive the reference to the completion of a circuit to earth. That works out at around 570,000 bucks each (455,000 pounds) – lots of passenger journeys there at a few bucks a pop!

Here’s a few extracts from the report on the recall by the “Vehicle Standards” regulator.

“The Driver Vehicle Standards Agency issued the emergency recall of 1,758 buses, A fire risk has been identified in the £800m fleet's aircon and heating system,”

Apparently, id you look at the buses constantly and say nice things to them, they don’t explode???

“Safety watchdogs have ordered the recall of almost 2,000 electric buses over fears they can catch fire if left unattended.“ Who knew?

Detail on the “hate being lonely” EV buses:

“All of the affected vehicles were manufactured between May 3, 2019 and February 6, 2024. They all contain batteries supplied by Chinese firm BYD.  “

Batteries supplied by BYD of China, got it!

All part of a global supply chair resulting in the “Alexander Dennis Enviro200 and Enviro400 single and double decker“ EV buses.

The company may need to change the brand name to Explodio200 and 400.
