Interactions of Pfizer and Moderna C19 shots with other medications – anyone know what the new price per shot for each is? (was 20-30 bucks per shot for their originals)
First Pfizer, from here:
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 (12y+) Bivalent Booster Vaccine PF Interactions - Drugs.com
“There are 300 drugs known to interact with Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 (12y+) Bivalent Booster Vaccine PF (sars-cov-2 (covid-19) miRNA (tozinameran 12y+) bivalent booster vaccine). Of the total drug interactions, 1 is major, 295 are moderate, and 4 are minor.”
“Most frequently checked interactions” has a list of drugs that interact. You can select the drug that might interact from a list. You can’t select combinations of drugs(?)
Eliquis/Apixaban is not on the list. Neither is Humalin or Lispro, So there is that.
I can’t find any price updates beyond this for the Pfizer bivalent shots – from 28 October 2022
How Much Will Pfizer's COVID Vaccines Cost In 2023? (verywellhealth.com)
“How Much Will Pfizer’s COVID Vaccines Cost in 2023?
Key Takeaways
Pfizer plans to charge $100-$130 for its COVID-19 vaccines in 2023.
As part of the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies are required to cover recommended vaccines.
Pfizer has an assistance program for low-income Americans to get vaccinated. Uninsured adults may also be able to get the shots through public health programs.”
That compares to under 30 bucks for the original injections.
Now Moderna, from here:
Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine PF Interactions - Drugs.com
“There are 300 drugs known to interact with Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine PF (sars-cov-2 (covid-19) mrna-1273 (bivalent booster) vaccine). Of the total drug interactions, 1 is major, 295 are moderate, and 4 are minor.”
Oh. Exactly the same as for Pfizer shots with different doses of active ingredients. Who would have thought?
Cost of Moderna shots from 15 February 2023:
Moderna COVID Vaccines Will Be Free in 2023 (verywellhealth.com)
“Key Takeaways
COVID-19 vaccines and boosters have been free because of federal funding. However, if that funding stops, people may have to pay out of pocket for the shots.
Pfizer reportedly plans to price their COVID-19 vaccines at $110 to $130 per dose.
Moderna released similar pricing, but has rolled it back in a commitment to keep their vaccines free.
Moderna is pledging to keep its COVID-19 vaccines free to everyone in the U.S. even after the COVID Public Health Emergency ends in May, the company announced on February 15.”
From that link:
“Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be available at no cost for insured people whether they receive them at their doctors’ offices or local pharmacies. For uninsured or underinsured people, Moderna’s patient assistance program* will provide COVID-19 vaccines at no cost.”
It’s almost as if insurance premia have not increased to cover C19 and C19 injection costs!!!!! (/sarc tag off). Does this mean that Moderna cannot even give away its shot to the uninsured???
