Robots and AI being increasingly used in Ukraine – codified by NATO – Biden chooses fund raising in Hollywood to a peace conference – "mass" v "tech" -50% power outages
A couple of videos providing updates on Ukraine during this anniversary week of D-Day 1944.
A video from 5th June 2024.
A counter offensive by Ukraine on Kharkiv is imminent.
The first is the daily update on clashes – at the street level – across the 800-mile-long front. The usual reports of death, maiming and destruction with some Russian casualties and gains. Of note is the report of the mining in western Ukraine along the Rumanian border to precent “escape” of Ukrainians not wishing to be sent to the front line – against international law?
The narrator mentions the many meetings – the 100-nation peace conference being dodged by Biden – he is sending Cackler Harris and Fake Sullivan instead There is a G7 meeting coming up as well. Plus, the D-Day Commemoration Services and meetings. There is a NATO summit in Washington as week.
The next (55-minute) video is from reporters in the UK commenting on the ground situation. It mentions the Hollywood fund raiser with George Clooney, Jimmy Kimmel and Julia Roberts the goes into some detail the types of remotely operated semi and fully autonomous robots that are increasingly being used to supplement the “drone wars” that have become the norm.
After trying to decipher Biden’s word salad about the denial of “NATO-isation” of Ukraine because f US and German objectives – for now - it mentions the Ukrainian efforts to sift through multiple designs for remote assaults on Russian positions using standards that are “codified” to NATO standards.
The reporters posit that, because the Ukrainians have a desperate man-power shortage – it is using all sorts of tech instead – to carry supplies, evacuate the wounded, destroy bridges and attack directly. The robots’ range in size, defence and attack capabilities and range.
The Russians will no doubt reciprocate these autonomous and remote robot devices so now we have escalated from “drone wars” to robot wars”.
These remotely operated, semi-autonomous devices don’t seem to have any trouble communicating so may Ukrainian communications systems are operating well.
Of note is a comment that Ukrainian power supply is done from around 55GW to 30 GW – with power outs becoming a feature ahead of what could be a very cold winter – I think the Russians realise they must have achieved the objectives of their “special military operation” before or soon after the US November elections.
There is a useful segment on the logistics of winning a war that requires not “mass” and “technology” and expensive western weaponry systems are useful in the face of mass of cheaper weapons – the Iranian drone attack repelled by Israels expensive Iron Dome defences comes to mind. For Ukraine to win, it must overcome the “mass” arraigned against it. No doubt, NATO is stepping up munitions supplies as we speak – whether Russia matches or exceeds that will become critical by Christmas.
The segment reports that the UK has 72,000 men and 500 tanks.
I am reminded of the “shield wall” clashes between Vikings and Saxons in the late 800’s AD.
Two masses of men, going shield to shield and trying to hack at each other’s unprotected body parts and push each other back to break the others shield wall. I suspect that there are parallels with the war in Ukraine, but increasingly fought with the right “mass” of technology. Whose taxes and ability to raise debt to finance the most cost-effective weapons that can concentrate and pierce the “shield wall” in many places becomes the key to success.
Onwards!!!
