“PERSONAL CIVIC EXIT from the World Health Organization (WHO)

In recent years, we have all faced challenges and changes in the health environment, especially in the light of the epidemic and pandemic. As citizens of the Republic of Slovenia, we have the right and duty to decide on our health and the way we respond to measures adopted by the Government and other organisations during the epidemic or pandemic.

We are aware that some decisions can be difficult and require careful consideration. Therefore, we want to give you the opportunity to decide how you want to deal with future health measures. We suggest that you pick up the exit statement from this report, print it out, fill it out, and send it to WHO headquarters by registered mail and acknowledgement of receipt.

It is also good to arrange a personal exit, in addition to the membership one for the reason of covering the back, in case of unforeseen situations.

I have no doubt that the WHO and its Director General will greet any letters from individuals with their usual approach – silence – ignoring any contrary view and so on – but the appeal of filling the halls of the WHO In Geneva with millions of “Hell, no” letters is compelling!

Other commenters to the post liked the idea and are progressing it in different countries, so I thought I would give an update to the state of affairs in Slovenia from the instigator, Mihael.

Here is an extract from an email Mihael sent today:

“.. here is reaction on FB and you can see some graphic statistics on link with formular downloading.  What I do not know is how many of these formulars were shared via plain PDF after downloading. But since people are calling me non stop I assume many more than you can see from statistics in the attachments.”

So, maybe there is a budding global phenomenon. Perhaps it is an empty gesture, but it does at least waves a few digits in the general direction of the WHO and all those politicians exercising rights over individual sovereignty they simply do not have! Sending a letter might even make you feel a little better! Who knows empty gestures could fill the corridors of (the abusers of) power.
