A few years ago, a paper was published that quantified some of the costs surrounding the attempts to replace fossil fuel use with “renewable energy” – half a trillion bucks a year over 2011-2018 Here is a link to the paper:Peter’s Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. A piece on renewable energy that begins with "a few years ago" is like dealing in energy archaeology. Puts a smile on my face. 2010 to 2018 was maybe not the Stone Age but certainly the Bronze Age of RE. Distant past.
“The horse is here to stay but the automobile is only a novelty—a fad,” the president of Michigan Savings Bank famously told Henry Ford's lawyer. Surely, so is renewable energy, according to those mired in the past, uncapable of understanding the sea change that has happened and continues to happen on the price and efficiency fronts very, very recently.
Things are moving fast in the energy sector, Peter. Way faster than most of us would have expected, and obviously way too fast for many of us to grasp. Thanks again for providing yet another showcase of this. Keep up the good entertainment!
Well said! I want to jump on my soap box and shout your words from the hilltop. These are my sentiments exactly, I just can’t articulate them as well as you. Thank you for all you do.
as you say for what? Anyone who thinks cobalt and lithium mining is "green" -well same people who think solar panels and wind turbines are environmentally friendly. With those billions, could we have developed a safe way to mine coal and a way to filter out the particles.
The costs and environmental harms caused by ”green” energy polices over 2011-2018 - 500 billion dollars per annum for what?
