Started with the destruction of the commons, then we notice a war machine that never ends, an ugly abandonment of Afghanistan (after Obama's Administration broke the back of 5 other countries), poor to no decisions on environmental regulations, train wrecks with 150-year-old breaking technology, spreading dioxins over 7 states, the military industrial medical complex intent on developing a continuous funding stream no matter the damage caused. Let's shoot up the over 65 set first, even though there was no clinical safety data; oh, protect the pregnant women, even though red flags are flying everywhere. Sure looks like WAR on humanity: economic destruction on top of a depopulation agenda, no matter how you cut it. If I were one of them, I would engineer a flu-like virus hoping it would be deadly and viral and sneak gonacon and pzp into the vaccine. One is a single shot, the other 2 shots a couple-three weeks apart, both requiring boosters every 6 months to a year to keep the sterility going.
I'd cover by including mRNA but it would just be one of the experiments, focusing everyone on that (off track yet holding some promise that is as yet experimental), and do the standard LD50 with some batches to find the concentration that causes a lethal dose in 50% of them, and those deaths would also serve as a welcome distraction so they wouldn't catch on to the sterility.
In doing this, I would be quite happy with myself for saving the planet currently up against its "carrying capacity" (according to our conferences) from the main "invasive and overabundant species". All my buddies and I would reassure each other we are "compassionate" since we aren't culling the herd with gruesome war (the historical method), or managed famines, but merely by reducing baby count mostly. Who is qualified and therefore has a duty to save this planet? Us, since we control trillions.
I would produce other threats to get the attention of the masses turned away from the main agenda of sterility onto 5G, graphene oxide, snake venom, self-assembling nanobots and everything else we're able to dream up along the way.
And none of them will even be able to see the words gonacon and pzp to look them up because none of their herd leaders will lead them to feel safe in thinking it. Or those that can ... will be too afraid to even do a search, figuring their IP will be tracked and they'd supposedly be singled out and targeted. Because the sheeple live in fear, it is their guidepost, instead of truth. And that's why their condition is hopeless, we sit as a queen, we have no reason to think we will ever experience sorrow.

I recommend the book 'Rigged' by a couple of Australian economists. They do a nice job of explaining how it often takes the wastage of huge amounts of money to funnel a small amount of it to the intended recipients. In Australia, something to the tune of 70% of all our GDP growth for the last 50 years was wasted to divert a small fraction of it to the corrupt few. This ties in with the 'WTF happened in 1971' context, which I believe you have already written about (TLDR: decoupling from gold back currency exacerbated the ability to steal from us).
It also outlines the signaling mechanisms between public and private club members which would allow for such wastage without overtly breaking any laws, or specifically colluding.
