I would bet yen bucks that this has never been part of any election manifesto and has zero science behind it or any evidence to support any differential impact on anything.
The Cult needs no “steenking” science or evidence. Any science or evidence that does not promulgate the Cult is to be greeted by silence or, if it persists, the providers are to be first deplatformed and if necessary, arrested and imprisoned.
“The government said from January 1, 2024, planning permits for new homes and residential subdivisions, including public and social housing, will only connect to all-electric networks.
All new public buildings, such as schools, hospitals, police stations and government-owned buildings, that are yet to reach a design stage must also be all-electric, effective immediately.”
Rather than describing natural gas as a hydrocarbon, these Cultists will describe it as a “fossil fuel” with a “carbon footprint”. Gas is NOT a fossil, nor is it derived from decomposing fossils. There is no “carbon footprint” – the used of natural gas created another gas, carbon dioxide plus water.

She said using electricity would also make heating a home and cooking more affordable for Victorians.”
Prices go up and down. Energy provided by “renewables” such as solar and wind is heavily subsidized with tax payer funds (no-one voted for those subsidies to be applied).
In a few years time, once the subsidies are gone and Australia’s cheap natural gas is exported to countries with less stupid politicians, electricity prices will sky rocket.

The government said Victoria had the highest use of residential gas in Australia, at around 80 per cent of homes.

Remember how the US DoE continually screws up its calculations for eliminating gas stoves and, latterly plans to ban ceiling fans? I would bet that the “experts” in both places are educated to the same “woke” standards of incompetence.
In case you think the State of Victoria is alone in Australia in seeking to impose Cult standards with zero electoral accountability, evidence or science, you would be mistaken.

It comes after a motion was passed on Monday night, with eight out of 10 councillors voting to 'investigate' the opportunities and challenges of a ban on gas connections.
The move will introduce clauses to developing rules which require new homes and businesses within the council area to be all-electric and gas-free.
It would require installing only electric appliances including stoves, cooktops, heaters and hot water units. “
The Australian government is infested with Cult members at all levels of city, state and federal levels. Remember Australia imposed the most draconian lockdown on the planet, bar, possibly Lithuania, enforced lockdowns with rubber bullets, pepper sprays and violent arrests on the streets and in peoples homes and is, along with the elected members of many countries, refusing to even acknowledge that that there has been a massive leap in excess deaths, post vaxx roll-out – criminals refusing to allow themselves to be prosecuted.

Hi Peter, gas is far more efficient and about 5 times less costly per unit of energy produced than electricity in the US. Where are the energy engineers? Waiting for a disaster of rationing due too little electricity available? Waiting for more people to “disappear”? This is insanity.
