Biden administration seeks to impose “arbitrary and capricious” regulations on every appliance in every American household – all because of the fake science of climate change and “Net Zero” targets
By now, the entire charade of the need to meet the “Ner Zero” targets enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations is clear for all to see.
THERE IS NO CLIMATE CRISIS
The Marxist/Maoist/Cult of Moloch religion that lies behind the mental psychoses of those foisting their own insanity onto others continues in the US – with chicken littles seeking to shove their dogma down people’s throats – the enforcement of compliance with these regulations via home inspections is surely just a short time off.
Ridiculous laws and regulations can only be enforced at the point of a gun whilst wearing jackboots.
Already in New York there are regulations that control the ability of manufacturers to distribute products. From here, 51,250 products are “regulated”.
State Appliance Standards Database - Homepage
You can read more about that for NYS and 12 neighbouring States here:
New York bolsters efficiency standards for appliances (timesunion.com)
The Department of Energy is playing catch-up.
It has worked out how to “save” households 5 bucks a year by imposing compliance costs with new regulations that I guesstimate will work out at ten times that – increased costs that will either be felt through inflation, more unnecessary spending on appliances and higher taxes.
Keep in mind that there are around 125 million households in the US and that electricity prices are over triple the prices of natural gas.
Also keep in mind that Americans are neither stupid nor are they not cognisant or concerned with the rapid rise I electricity prices caused by the massive subsidies paid to “renewable” energy projects and taxes imposed on energy sourced from hydrocarbons.
Is there any reason why any American should not be able to regulate their own energy bills WITHOUT the distorting effects of politicians and bureaucrats – and select that combination of appliances that suits their individual tastes and preferences?
Of course, not But members of the Cult are nothing if not interfering busybodies that make life miserable for the majority of people.
Where am I going with all this?
Well, remember the mantra of the Cult of Moloch – “Welcome to the Cult, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated” – plus the underlying dogma of “one size fits all”, “all property is theft” – “there is no difference in multiple genders” and “your children are sexual beings that belong to the State”.
I posted this a few days ago:
Which had this quote:
““Michigan, California, New York and Illinois have all passed legislation that consolidates authority over land use issues and rules with state-level bureaucrats at the expense of local governments that could have altered their own zoning codes to stem the tide of industrial green projects like solar and wind farms. These policies deprive rural residents in these states of their freedom and local autonomy, while also benefiting the corporate interests that line the pockets of the states’ Democratic governors, state policy experts and lawmakers told the Daily Caller News Foundation.”
Pretty authoritarian “Cult” stuff!
Check out this article from Just the News:
Biden energy efficiency crackdown leaves no appliance in American home untouched | Just The News
“List of impacted appliances includes gas stoves, dishwashers, ACs, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and furnaces, fuelling concerns consumer choices are being thwarted.”
Energy efficiency crackdown? What a joke. It is the first step to rationing of energy to meet the UN’s Net Zero targets. Targets that have no basis in science or humanity – pure dogma that make people poorer for no good reason.
What is the impact on the second-hand market for appliances that are “energy inefficient? Will there be a massive increase in the export of these to the third world? Reminds me of the logic of exporting the now non-compliant four wheel drive SUV; s from the UK to help with the “war effort” in Ukraine.
Destroy the market and export the global pollution to a (losing) war zone? Typical insanity, much like the Norwegians looking to uproot the sea, whilst continuing to export “fossil fuels” to Europe and the UK – also whilst claiming to be a leading light in domestic “green policies” (whilst electric buses break down in the cold weather).
Here’s a few of the “energy measures” – which are really fines for not towing the “chicken little party line”.
“The Biden administration promotes the efficiency standards as a means by which it’s going to save Americans money — $10 billion over 30 years, according to a May announcement.”
The embedded link states this - “Department of Energy - DOE Announces Efficiency Rules to Save Americans More Than $650 Million in Annual Energy And Water Bills”
30 years times 650 million a year = 19.5 billion – the headline reads ten billion – oh well, the devil is always in the detail right? Or in this case the machinations of the Cult are always in the detail!
Energy and water bills.. 125 million households – 650 million a year – that’s 6 bucks a year for energy AND water.
We all know about the shower head regulation changes pushed years ago the Just the News article lists a few other appliances.
This quote about dishwashers “Milloy said that there’s no evidence those savings will be realized because the standards increase the purchase price and make the appliances worse. Not only do they have to be run longer to accomplish the same tasks, they break down more often.”
All about compliance costs – to meet the stupid regulations, the costs of the appliances will have to go up, making people poorer – all whilst electricity prices have increased dramatically:
Here’s a comment about fridges: "The food we are putting in the refrigerator is costing a lot more than it did a year or two ago. Now we're telling consumers not only is your food going to cost more, but your refrigerator will also cost you more,” Notini told Reason.
There are regulations about gas stoves – remember they cost a third the energy of electricity to cook – because they were claimed to cause asthma in kids, but:
“The study, critics point out, didn’t factor into its analysis a much larger study by the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood of a half-million children in 47 countries that found no such association.”
Consumer preferences do not support an all electric household.
“In January, a YouGov poll found a 50/50 split on the issue. This past November, a Yale poll found that fewer than one-third of Americans wanted an all-electric home.
One third favour all electric households but YWO THRIDS DO NOT!
On to air-con:
“In March, the DOE announced it finalized efficiency standards for air conditioners, promising that they will save consumers $25 billion over 30 years.”
“In 2020, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimated that nearly 90% of America’s 124 million homes used air conditioners. If the DOE’s estimated savings turn out to be accurate, the average American home will save $7.46 per year over the next three decades thanks to the DOE’s standards.”
Seven and a half bucks a year over 30 years? Really? Wow, that’s TWO CENTS A DAY!!! Imagine ff instead Americans were left with the choice of lifting the thermostat by 2 degrees in summer or lowering it by 2 degrees in winter? How much would that save, give the massively inflated electricity prices because of the use of heavily subsidized “renewable energy” and massively taxed hydrocarbon energy?
I wonder what the impact on household bills would be if the wattage of light bulbs was limited to 60 watts? Would be multiple times more, right? Can Americans do this now? Yes of course they can! The Department of Energy doesn’t have a regulation for that, yet. Only a matter of time before they fins this out ad come up with yet another way to impose the “nanny state”.
All on the path to energy rationing as soon as they can get “smart meters” installed that can be inspected by federal and state bureaucrats.
The compliance and enforcement costs will run to far more than the 10 or 20 billion over 30 years.
My guesstimate is that the bureaucracy alone will cost a billion a year – then the inspection and compliance costs – another 2-3 billion.
So the swap is – make consumers pay an extra 10-20% for the compliance costs of the products, tax payers will have to fund the higher electricity ad food prices from “Net Zero” policies that use horribly expensive “renewable” and which eliminate livestock.
Nack to the Just the News article – comments on furnaces”.
“In October, the DOE announced final rules for residential gas furnaces, which will go into effect in 2028. The DOE claims the standards will slash utility costs $1.5 billion annually. Based on EIA’s figure of 124 million homes in America, that comes to approximately $12 per year per household.”
A dollar a month – 3 cents a day. No doubt the central point average which is plus or minus a standard deviation that captures two thirds of likely outcomes of somewhere between one cent and five cents. Laughable.
Are there really furnaces that already are available that save more than this? Or furnaces that can be used differently to make more savings than this?
“Those residents who can’t install compliant furnaces will be forced to switch to electric heating equipment, which the AGA said is 3.3 times more expensive than natural gas, based on DOE figures.”
Uh huh. Forced to get rid of gas furnaces and pay three times the price for electricity sourced “renewable energy”.
Well not quite. It’s going to get worse – and will, of course, in true Cult fashion, impact the poor far more than the better off.
Remember the objective of the Cult is to create energy poverty – and hence reduce energy consumption amongst the larger population of those worse off.
A lot of cheap energy is still generated by hydrocarbon, nuclear and hydro. Of course the horribly expensive renewable component is planned to go up progressively in the Inflation Reduction Act – making the comparison even worse – gas will be ten times cheaper than renewable energy in five years?
Onwards!

I just moved into a house and I’m guessing the washer is very new because after lifting the lid to put in an item of clothing I forgot about, I noticed there was about 2 inches of water at the bottom of the tub. I was WTF?? One thing weird I noticed about the washer was that it had no load size...auto sensor...and now I know why.
