COVID stats depend on testing and reporting and are hard to compare from country to country. So I looked at all-cause mortality for 2021 and I was surprised. Population data from

Ourworldindata.org and number of deaths from Wikipedia.

USA 9.74

Indonesia 10.06

Nigeria 13.09

Pakistan 7.78

Usually Africa wins in terms of Covid, but poverty, infant mortality, and violence overshadowed Covid-19 in Nigeria.

I’m eager for 2022 and 2023 data. That’s for stoking my curiosity, Peter.

Thanks for covering this.

I immediately moved to percentages to get around the differences in population. Thanks for giving the multipliers.
