“State Rep. Carlos Gonzalez said he did not intend the bill to be a quid pro quo.”
“A Massachusetts legislator said he's going to change a proposed bill that would have given state inmates reduced sentences if they signed up to donate an organ, following an outcry from several groups.
Last month, Democratic Rep. Carlos Gonzalez co-introduced a bill that would establish an individual bone marrow and organ donation program for Massachusetts inmates. As part of the originally proposed program, eligible inmates would be able to reduce their sentences by as little as 60 days to as much as a year "on the condition that the incarcerated individual has donated bone marrow or organs."
Word of the bill's language set off a slew of criticism from prisoner's rights groups and advocates for organ donations who called the move a quid pro quo.
Alexandra Glazier, the president and CEO of New England Donor Services, which coordinates organ and tissue donation in the area, told ABC News she was surprised by the bill.”
Yay!?!
Onwards!

The problem comes when government is given power by laws that allow limited use of a condition for incarceration. it will be limited to non-violent offenders first but when laws are on the books they can be quietly changed without little notice. This is a favorite government practice. Need proof? Remember back when seat belts were first put in cars "as an option" well soon government mandated them for all cars. Love that word mandated. Now we saw the push to use them for safety of the citizens. Then laws were passed that required that they be used. Dont worry you wont be stopped for not using the seat belt. Then you could recieve a ticket if you were stopped for another violation. and now they stop you for not using it. They get the first law on the books and then change it little by little until it expands their powers and control. I can only Immagine how many organs will be donated to get themselves out of jail. I now ask just how many inmates will have organs clean enough to donate? Although when someone is loosing their life the diseases they could acquire from these organs would be a minor threat. The real threat would come from the felon now freed by government law. Is this any different than the criminal element that comes to us from our open border? The few organ recipients that loose their lives from these organs is small compared to the many that loose life and property from the illegals. The largest threat will come from government expansion of powers that could demand organs for lighter sentencing from the poor citizen finding themselves entangled within our legal system. Within my 80 years I have watched as government slowly seizes power and control it wants to rule not serve.------------ I, Grampa
On a related issue: organ donation after "brain death" 2018 (?) interview Dr Paul Byrne, neonatologist/pro-life activist ( https://lifeguardianfoundation.org/ ) on how brain death is defined, meaning of consciousness, pain he claims is suffered by brain-dead donors paralysed by drugs (thus unable to express pain) during organ extraction to facilitate procedure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7NgJJtJ-mI
