ICYMI, from 4 May 2023 the UK requires photo ID in order for people to vote in almost all elections - which will be extended to UK Parliamentary elections in October 2023
The UK has adopted photo ID rules to prevent voter fraud.
I wonder how much coverage of this change there has been in the anti-humanist propaganda movement that passes for the MSM in the US and other countries (those that do not already have photo ID).
Speaking in Tokyo, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that voting was a privilege. He did not say it was a right. He also said there were no plans to reduce the voting age to 16.
Out of interest, here is a picture of his house. He bought it just before he was voted in as the MP for Richmond in 2015. Richmond is a “safe seat” for the Conservative Party.
The “Tories” were taking no chances in installing Sunak. I wonder how many people would love to be so favoured in the “Tory” party!
Richmond (Yorks) (UK Parliament constituency) - Wikipedia
“The constituency presents itself as a safe seat for the Conservative Party, which held it continuously since 1910 (if including the 11 years by the allied Unionist Party from 1918), and in the 2010 general election, Richmond produced the largest numerical and percentage majority for a Conservative, 62.8% of the vote.”
Anyways, back to the photo ID story:

What photo ID do you need to vote in UK elections? - BBC News
“From October the ID requirements will also apply to any future general elections.”

General elections - UK Parliament
“A general election is an opportunity for people in every part of the UK to choose their MP. This person will represent a local area (constituency) in the House of Commons for up to five years.

There are different rules if you vote in Northern Ireland.”
Check out all the valid photo ID’s you can use – makes you wonder what the big deal is for a national ID when there are so many other electronic versions already in existence:
“Check if you have accepted photo ID

This is clearly targeted towards illegal immigration and those operating in the “unofficial economy” like, for example, gypsies. Even travel cards require proof of residence using, for example, utility bills if you cannot produce photo ID. (Travelling gypsies probably aren’t huge users of travel cards!)
Of course the English have thought that the English Parliament has been the mother of all parliaments since 1865. It has also led the way in certain voting privileges and human rights, like the abolition of slavery and the granting of women’s rights to vote and not be discriminated against for employment.
But then, that’s the English, not the British parliament! I am sure that many countries around the world would claim their Parliaments were older and wiser, like the Manx parliament – the Tynwald - of the Isle of Man, which dates back a thousand years . Photo ID probably not required for its 84,000 people.
You can check out 930 pages of current immigration rules by clicking the link below, but my bet is that is relatives and families only, even if the “official” position is to mirror immigration rules in the UK.
By the way, 46 out of 47 European countries require photo ID to vote.
