“Now is the winter of our discontent, made worse by this green energy cult” – Brits warned of higher energy prices than last winter as the financial fraud of green policies continues
From here:
“International energy costs have fallen but government support is being pulled”
Not good. Essentially a government subsidy of 55 pounds a month has expired but so has a price cap, leaving prices to settle at higher NET levels.
“'This time last year, we were anticipating and seeing prices at around £4,200 a year without Government support. And last year, Government did step in to give tens of billions of pounds of support to customers.
'But there is a reality for customers this year: That support is not available. So, for many people, their bills will be very similar this year, and possibly worse for some, than they were last year.'
Ofgem announced last month that the energy price cap will drop from £2,074 per year for the average household to £1,923 in October.”
The interference of government in international politics as well as the means of production has, predictably, resulted in confusion, inefficiencies, distortions of price signals and lots of “jobs for the bureaucrats”.
Yesterday I posted this:
In it, I pointed out that current prices for UK electricity are around 31 pence per kWh (up 50% over the last two years) and for UK natural gas they are around 7.5 pence per kWh – also up around 50% in the last two years. This compares to the current US electricity price of around 16 cents.
I resisted the temptation to say that this was a direct comparison between the price of green energy and hydrocarbon energy, but it is worth considering.
To put it bluntly, green energy costs FOUR TIMES more than hydrocarbon energy. That extra cost hits the poorest the hardest and places them at risk of making bad choices. Heat or food as well as slightly more discretionary items like taking out insurance, paying off credit, going for a beer or a holiday, or clothes and so on.
This poverty creation is not just collateral damage of Green (bogus/booger) Climate Change policies – policies that are grounded in a Cult, not in evidence based science) this creation of poverty and removal of choice and discretion from the “bottom half” of society is intentional. It is masked by Cult language contained in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
However, looking a little deeper, it turns out this is not the full extent of the harms inflicted on Brits by its bureaucrats and faux scientists, embraced by political, virtue signalling sycophants.
There is another charge that Brits must pay, regardless of how much energy they use or what type.
It is called the “Standing Daily Charge” and is levied on each form of energy supplied, gas or electricity.
It is called the “Standing Daily Charge” and is levied on each form of energy supplied, gas or electricity. . What Is A Standing Charge? | MoneySuperMarket
The standing charge is set-up to cover various costs. These include:
· Maintaining the energy network of pipes and wires that brings gas and electricity across the UK to your home
· Carrying out meter readings
· Funding greener energy development
· Government initiatives to support vulnerable households
There are around 28 million households in the UK – around 85% of them have gas. All of them have electricity. The standing daily charge for gas is now around 7.5 pence a day and for electricity is around 38 pence a day – adding a few hundred pounds in total to the overall energy bills for the year.
Note that the standing daily charge for electricity is FIVE TIMES that of gas.
Now check out the list of what the standing daily charge covers. Most Brits read their own meters. You would think that the price of gas and electricity already reflects the cost of maintaining that supply – support for vulnerable households is supposed to be reflected In the overall tax take – which leaves:
“FUNDING GREENER ENERGY DEVELOPMENT”.
So, not only has the UK government provided massive subsidies to “green energy” over decades, the UK has arrived at a place where “green energy” costs FOUR TIMES that of natural gas – the hydrocarbon – but Brits are also being billed FIVE TIMES the cost of supplying that “green energy”.
The bottom line? THE CREATION OF ENERGY POVERTY by pursuing the faux science of “climate change”.

The time for pitch forks at dawn grows closer, either that, or there exists a tacit acceptance by a multitude that they are useless eaters, as ordained by the elites in Whitehall and Westminster.
It is becoming quite a simple binary choice.
For many who can no longer afford rent it's going to be "winter of our discount tent".
