ITER (which I have kept an eye on for many years) is moribund in bureaucracy. Fingers crossed it will yield something useful. The small truck sized fusion projects appear more promising, whether in the UK or the US, assuming the that what passes for the UK and the US in the future has not regressed into a new Stone Age.
