Environmentally friendly then? Major benefit of wind power? YES! To blow smoke up everyone's arses.

Yes. We know that land based windmill plantations (birds and bees etc) and acres of solar panels decimate all wildlife within those areas. We know that windmills as tall as 5 storey buildings are difficult to put in landfills once they break down and need to be disposed of. We know that recycling solar panels is problematic - and their use is growing exponentially - so, what happens when a technology emerges that makes them obsolete in, say, 5 or ten years? Dig a bigger hole for the industrial waste? Solyndra provides a lesson that is ignored today.
