My wife recently bought a new car and the first insurance quote given was with a manufacturer installed monitoring and reporting device that sent driving data to the insurance company. The monthly payment could differ greatly from month to month based upon this data. She was able to opt out of this but at a higher cost. Soon, this will be the only option. We have got to push back.

It's already being installed on our youngsters. As reduced insurance premium incentives to install 'black box' tech., which monitors, scores and saves driving data in real time. Well, as long as the driver is also welded to a 'smartphone' and appropriate app - more incentives never to leave home withoiut one's personal surveillance tracking system. So the new drivers won't see a problem with it as they are already used to the scab in the cab.
