The tech to monitor driving to adjust insurance already exists and is in use in Japan. My wife recently bought a new car and the first insurance quote given was with a manufacturer installed monitoring and reporting device that sent driving data to the insurance company. The monthly payment could differ greatly from month to month based upon this data. She was able to opt out of this but at a higher cost. Soon, this will be the only option. We have got to push back.
It's already being installed on our youngsters. As reduced insurance premium incentives to install 'black box' tech., which monitors, scores and saves driving data in real time. Well, as long as the driver is also welded to a 'smartphone' and appropriate app - more incentives never to leave home withoiut one's personal surveillance tracking system. So the new drivers won't see a problem with it as they are already used to the scab in the cab.
Are you in the Sates? I am less surprised it is in use in Japan than the US but with all the other shite citizens of the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave allow, I guess I should not be.
I know the car park incident happened awhile back. He did a nice follow up article on it as well besides his initial one. We aren't safe with these batteries.
