Canada’s “pay to play” Online News Act – forces social media sites to pay Canadian news channels - Meta shuts down news feeds to Canadians - censorship by any other name would smell as rotten
“Canadians’ access to news on Facebook and Instagram will be cut off in the coming weeks after Meta said Tuesday that a “fundamentally flawed” law is forcing the company to make the tough decision. “
No mention of WhatsApp.
It may be that Meta already censors the news that Canadians receive via Facebook and Instagram, but at least they could get censored news on their feeds.
“Canada’s Online News Act, passed by its leftist legislature earlier this summer, requires Big Tech companies to negotiate agreements with Canadian news outlets and pay them for news content shared on social media platforms, Reuters reported. Meta spokesman Andy Stone slammed the law in a tweet on Tuesday and said ending access to news on its platforms was the only option. “
So, Facebook and Instagram must pay the Canadian state media outlets for the news they report on – whether that is Canadian or global news reported by Canadian news outlets, including on state channels.- presumably that means Google, Rumble, SubStack etc must also pay Canadian state and private news outlets for the privilege of using news sourced from Canada from Canada and around the world that is published online.
I wonder how this impacts news aggregator sites like Citizen Free Press, ZeroHedge and WhatFinger.
Somehow I doubt that Canadian news outlets will pay for information sourced from the internet from around the world – presumably Canadian news outlets must pay for news from the Trusted News Initiative - the global cartel that censors all news that does not align to the narrative preferred by the Cult of Moloch – like agendas followed by the WHO and IPCC faux scientists and big Pharma/WEF.
“Both Meta and Google said in June that they would fight the law by blocking access to news in Canada. The country’s move is part of a global trend to force Big Tech companies to pay for news shared on their platforms, according to Reuters. Australia passed a similar law in 2021, while France and Spain also have social media news laws on the books.”
Oh. So Google as well – which means YouTube. That should rip a few nighties. What are the other sites lie Rumble and SubStack going to do? Ban all Canadian subscribers?
Australia has already passed a similar law – I wonder what the impact has been? Zero because such a law is unenforceable? It is coming to the US as well, in places like Commiefornia. In short, anywhere there is a preponderance of libtard demoNrat socialist welfare statists in the Cult.
“The trend is making its way to the U.S. as well, as lawmakers in California have advanced a bill with bipartisan support mirroring Canada’s Online News Act. Meta has also threatened to block news in California if the bill, dubbed the “Journalism Preservation Act,” passes the state Senate and gets signed into law by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. “
So much for the First Amendment in Commifornia. It has long been the goal of the Democratic Party to overthrow the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights. That it was defines and differentiates the US as a world leader and so is what its enemies seek to destroy so that the mob can vote for an Idiocracy and allow a minority of global elitists to create a carcass they can pick over at their leisure.

The fake in the Privy Council office of Chinada hasn’t finished off the country yet. He’s very busy working on its demolition. Just like Biden: the parallels are entertaining.
I don’t use Google or YouTube for news content either. They have been censored from reporting truth at least since the beginning of the scamdemic. Substack has news that I consider truthful and reliable (although not a lot of Canadian content)
Although is seems it would be nearly impossible to implement these new laws, (admittedly I don’t fully understand the logistics or even the reasoning) I don’t lament this decision to censor news which is mainly government propaganda.
No loss there. Mainstream Canadian propaganda is all state sponsored.

Also....”demonRats”....hahahah 😆
I don't get my news from FB or Instagram, never have, never will.
YouTube?
Nope
Fair enough, but I bet an awful lot of Canadians get their news from podcasts and news clips!
Yes but after this ban they'll have to look elsewhere. Our government is evil.
Nothing the Canadians do surprises me anymore!
